Madre Terra

These abstract works explore nature and the sensations it evokes in us. I aim to convey these feelings through color, luminosity, relief, and texture.

I want the viewer to awaken their emotional memory—not merely by seeing “The Sea” “Dawn” or “Sunset” but by smelling and feeling the breeze, the warmth or coolness on their skin, the sparkle in their eyes, the salt on their hands, the sand beneath their feet, the morning freshness on their face, the sweet aroma of a summer sunset, and much more.

The concept behind this series is rooted in the philosophy of Kintsugi, whereby repairing something “broken” with gold imbues the object with added value. The unifying thread across all the works is the gold flowing from the “wound”, as in the Japanese technique, the resilience of the Earth, which constantly heals and renews itself.

We can always look to nature and marvel at it; we are part of it. We must realize that caring for the place where we live means caring for ourselves—and that this holds a value far greater than that highly coveted metal.
